What if I do not want my GP informed?
In most cases, GP notification is required to ensure safe prescribing. If you have concerns, raise them with your clinician. We will work through them with you.
Common concerns
- A worry that your GP will be unsupportive of the diagnosis.
- Privacy preferences about your medical record.
- A sense that the diagnosis is personal and you want time before sharing.
How we work through them
Where appropriate, we can limit what is shared to the minimum required for safe prescribing. We can support you in framing the conversation with your GP. We can also help you understand which parts of your care your GP needs visibility of and which parts are between you and us.
If sharing is not possible
Without appropriate information sharing, medication may not be able to proceed. Non-medication treatment, including psychoeducation and signposting to therapy, remains available regardless.
