Initiation Session: starting treatment
If you receive an ADHD diagnosis and choose to proceed with medication, the Initiation Session is your first treatment appointment. It covers the medical history needed for safe prescribing, the choice of medication, and the start of titration.
What is included
- A review of your baseline health checks, including blood pressure and any required blood tests or ECG.
- A discussion of medication options: stimulants, non-stimulants, and the relative pros and cons.
- A shared decision on the starting medication and dose.
- A titration plan with scheduled review points.
- A private prescription, where appropriate, sent to your chosen pharmacy.
After the Initiation Session
Titration appointments are scheduled at intervals to review effect, side effects, and adjust the dose. Once your treatment is stable, we move to annual reviews and, where possible, a Shared Care Agreement with your GP.
Fee
£550. Subsequent titration appointments are charged separately. Medication is paid directly to the pharmacy. If you prefer a bundled price covering initiation and the early titration appointments, see the Medication Pathway at £595.
