Why does Lighthouse Pathways need to review my existing ADHD diagnosis?
Understanding the clinical reason for a pre-prescribing review
If your ADHD diagnosis was completed by another provider, our prescribing clinician must review the original diagnostic report and relevant clinical information before prescribing can be considered.
This is not an administrative step. Prescribing ADHD medication is a clinical responsibility. To do so safely, the prescriber needs to understand:
- How the diagnosis was reached and whether the report contains sufficient clinical evidence
- Your current symptoms and how they affect daily functioning
- Your medical history, including any physical health conditions
- Your mental health history
- Current medications and any known drug interactions
- Cardiovascular and other physical risk factors
In some cases, if the diagnostic report does not contain sufficient evidence, the clinician may advise that a new assessment is required before prescribing can proceed.
