Shared Care Agreements explained
A Shared Care Agreement is an arrangement between your specialist clinician at Lighthouse Pathways and your GP. It allows your GP to take over prescribing your ADHD medication once your treatment is stable.
Why it matters
- Access to medication at the standard NHS prescription cost.
- More convenient prescribing through your usual practice.
- Continuity of care alongside the rest of your medical record.
How it works
Once your medication is stable after titration, we contact your GP with a formal request and the supporting clinical information. Your GP reviews the request and decides whether to accept. If accepted, prescribing transfers to the GP and we move you to annual reviews.
Your part
You will still need an annual review with Lighthouse Pathways for as long as we are part of your Shared Care Agreement. The annual review keeps the arrangement safe and current.
