Support for students and Disabled Students Allowance
If you are at university, college, or sixth form, your ADHD diagnosis can unlock practical support and funding. The two main routes are your institution’s disability or learning support service, and Disabled Students Allowance for university students.
Disability or learning support service
Every UK university and most colleges have a disability or learning support team. They can arrange exam adjustments such as extra time, a separate room, or rest breaks. They can also coordinate with academic departments on coursework extensions and lecture recordings.
Disabled Students Allowance
DSA is a UK government grant for higher education students with a disability, including ADHD. It funds specialist study skills support, assistive technology, and other tailored adjustments.
What you need
DSA applications and university disability services typically require evidence of diagnosis. Your Lighthouse Pathways diagnostic report meets this requirement, provided it is comprehensive and identifies your clinician’s professional registration. The reports we produce are designed with these uses in mind.
How to apply
For DSA, apply through Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland. For institutional support, contact your university’s disability or learning support team directly.
