Will I be offered medication?
Medication is discussed if clinically appropriate. It is always optional, and the decision is yours. Your clinician will explain the potential benefits, the side effects to watch for, and the alternatives.
When medication is recommended
Medication is typically recommended when ADHD symptoms have a substantial impact on daily life and other approaches alone are unlikely to address them. NICE guidance supports medication as a first-line option for adults with ADHD.
When medication may not be recommended
Some medical conditions, current medications, or pregnancy may affect what is safe. Your clinician will review these factors during the Initiation Session.
Shared decision-making
Decisions are made together. We do not push medication. If you are unsure, you can defer the decision and explore non-medication strategies first.
